Albanian Pavilion
Bienalle di Venezia
Meyer-Grohbrügge, 2022

The Albanian Pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale 2022 presents Lumturi Bloshmi, an Albanian artist who works in painting, photography, installation and performance. Her works are characterised by a certain irony and a particular way of reflecting and overcoming the reality in which she lives.
The pavilion is designed to reflect Bloshmi's tangible yet intangible universe and its openness to interpretation. The two spatial structures create different environments for different relationships with the artworks, from a representative framing to small and intimate situations.
To reflect Bloshmi’s luminous, threshold-like atmospheres, I developed a material comprising hand-painted clear resin on artificial silk. The surface holds a soft internal glow and captures sublte reflections, while the brushstrokes leave a faint human imprint, echoing the same quiet radiance and suspended clarity in her paintings.
